who we are

                                       WHO WE ARE:

The Doula Collective of Chatham Kent cultivates the growth of individual doulas and the collective profession. This increases the quality of prenatal, birth and postpartum support given to women and their families. Collectively we stand with women in their decisions and provide continuous, empowering labour support.

Katrina Brown: PSP

am married to my best friend, and blessed with three amazing daughters. I am an aspiring midwife and a very humble individual. Over the last 10 years I have had the honour of working with families in many different capacities as a birth support worker, lactation support consultant and a palliative care provider. As a result, I have been exposed to many diverse birthing environments and family dynamics. I became a mother as a young teenager and through this birth I experienced trauma. It took many years of processing to understand that what I needed during that time is now exactly what I am passionate about today.Providing education and support to couples, saving space, advocating for and empowering women. I fully promote informed choice, and support whatever decisions you make.
Areas I specialize in:
Baby positioning before birth
Support during active labour
Lactation support
Postpartum Support
Infant sleep education

My husband and I are the proud parents of 6. Having my babies has been one of the most beautiful parts of my life. I love the adventure of parenting and find great joy in being a mom.
I am a DONA certified birth doula, photographer and proud member of the Canadian Birth Photographers.
I am a co-founder of the "Walk with Me" program at Refuge Pregnancy Centre. A comprehensive pregnancy, birth and postpartum support program that provides women with a birth doula and prenatal and postpartum education.
I am also a member of the Breastfeeding Coalition.
I am awed by the beauty of pregnancy and the miracle of birth. I believe that these are very special times in a family’s life. As a birth doula I feel honoured to play a small role in the welcoming of new life and helping families have a positive birth experience.  I have both personal and professional experience with a wide variety of birthing options. Home or hospital, medicated or natural, my goal is to help you to achieve the birth that you desire.
I love being able to help other families through the exciting experience of pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period and to find great joy in their journey.
Areas in which I specialize are:
Labour Support
Comfort Measures
